While Officers are generally expected move with their maneuver unit and lead an attack, they are also responsible for employing the single-most casualty producing weapon organic to their squad – the Machine Gun. Machine Gun Team / Support by Fire Officer – Machine Gunner – Rifleman The Engineer and Anti-Tank class can also swap out in the gunner position to allow the Anti-Tank class to employ his bazooka or panzerschreck depending on the situation.
Once the sandbags are in place, the Engineer then uses his carbine to protect the AT gun’s flank and rear while simultaneously spotting for the gun team. The Engineer then fortifies the gun position with sandbag walls on either side to protect the gun team from small arms fire.
Once his supplies are placed, the Anti-Tank class builds an AT Gun and assumes the gunner position while the Support class takes the loader position. The Support role drops his supplies in an ideal position for the Anti-Tank class to build an AT Gun. The Support class primary responsibility is to assist the Squad Leader in constructing Garrisons, but the supplies he brings to the battlefield are incredibly effective when used by the Anti-Tank and Engineer classes to build an AT Gun inside a sandbag emplacement. It is really an AT Gun team that is also devastatingly effective on high ground in the offense when attacking a hardened defensive fighting position such as a bunker or building. We’ll start with my personal favorite, which I’m calling a Static Defense Team. Static Defense Team Anti-Tank – Support – Engineer Squads in Hell Let Loose only have six total players, which limits how dynamically some of these combinations can be employed, but it also means that the smaller squads are easier to control. While a large number of combinations exists (84 possible three player combinations and 36 possible two player combinations), the following functional teams are ones I’ve observed to be underutilized and that I recommend be used more often based on their utility. The key element these combinations have in common is that they are centered around specific functional tasks which are frequently and repeatedly present in Hell Let Loose game play. There are, however, certain combinations that can prove to be very effective. There’s no one way to employ each role and the game is at its best when squads adapt their use of these roles to the unique tactical situation each scenario has to offer. Squads that stick together and work together are by far the most effective. Each squad member has a distinct role and these roles complement each other in an endless variety of ways. Death from an unseen sniper or rifleman from afar is common, but on the other hand dispatching a distant enemy from cover is thrilling every time and there’s nothing like honing a talented squad to well-ordered perfection and winning a grueling match.Squad cooperation and team play is the core aspect of Hell Let Loose. There is a lot of hurry-up-and-waiting around, or scanning the map for enemies and objectives, and travel by foot across the immense maps can be painfully slow and tense. The actual weapons look, sound, and feel great, when you actually get to use them. Hell Let Loose is really a game that rewards diving deep into one or two classes and helping your team by being an expert and leveled up, with the best gear and skills. You have a choice of fighting for the Americans, Germans or Soviets and though you begin as a lowly rifleman, you can eventually unlock 14 different classes like Scout, Machine Gunner, Medic, Engineer, and Tank Commander. Modeled from satellite imagery and period reconnaissance photographs, the immense battlefields are divided into capturable sectors and matches can last a very long time, upwards of an hour. Hell Let Loose is a 50v50 multiplayer shooter, set in Europe during some of the most iconic battles of World War 2, including Omaha Beach, Carentan, Stalingrad, and Foy.
